Major drug ring busted

Local police in Yibin, Sichuan province, have cracked a massive drug case in which they seized 2.17 billion yuan worth of raw materials often used to make ephedrine or methamphetamine.

Police said a total of 64 pharmaceutical companies across 21 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions were involved in the case. So far, five criminal gangs were dismantled, 85 suspects were taken into custody and 45 people were arrested and charged.
