Jilin Special: Village schools benefit as hotel maintains its CSR commitments

As part of the Changchun Shangri-La Hotel's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, it has raised 200,000 yuan in the last two years to rebuild the Xin Jia Primary School in Jilin province's Yitong Manchu autonomous county. The project was sucessfully completed at the end of October.

The rebuilding of the school is just one of the hotel's initiatives aimed at supporting Xin Jia. The objectives of the hotel's overall program are to eradicate poverty in the area and promote sustained growth through education and health.

The hotel has now undertaken responsibility for the sustainable development of two underprivileged villages over the next 15 years. This support will come through such diverse activities as establishing educational funds for scholarships, building schools and offering agricultural support. Xin Jia located in Yingchengzi township in Yitong county, is one of the chosen villages, whilst the other is Quannongshan in Changchun.
