It's not home sweet home for Rangers, admits Smith

China Daily | Updated: 2009-11-26 08:00

GLASGOW: Walter Smith admitted that three home defeats in three Champions League matches by Rangers condemned the Old Firm giants to the European wilderness for another year.

The Rangers manager watched as his side crashed out of the Champions League with a 2-0 defeat to Stuttgart at Ibrox on Tuesday and cannot even qualify for the Europa League thanks to Romanian side Unirea Urziceni's surprise 1-0 win over Sevilla.

Sebastian Rudy fired the Germans into a first-half lead and Zdravko Kuzmanovic's header in the second period condemned Rangers to a third consecutive home defeat in the competition after 4-1 thrashings at the hands of Sevilla and Unirea Urziceni.
