For Obama, there's no easy path to 'no war anymore'

US President Barack Obama did not attend a special event in London's Downing Street this week when a portrait of Lady Margaret Thatcher was unveiled at the British prime minister's residence. If he had, I don't know if Lady Thatcher would have repeated advice she gave to a former US president after Iraq invaded Kuwait: "This is no time to go wobbly."

Any day now, Obama apparently will make his biggest decision since he reached the White House. Will he send more troops to Afghanistan? (Almost certainly.) How many more? (Good question.)

Obama huddled with his "war council" to weigh the options in what the White House called a final review.
