Former cop gets death
A former police chief in the city of Tonghua, who local residents referred to as the "mafia boss in uniform", was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve in Jilin province yesterday.
The Intermediate People's Court in Liaoyuan city convicted Wang Yufan, former deputy head of the Tonghua Public Security Bureau, on 15 charges, including organizing and leading criminal gangs, taking bribes and trafficking drugs.
