Man jailed for beating police officer

A man received five months of detention for breaking through the traffic roadblocks during the National Day military parade rehearsal, the Chaoyang district court said yesterday.

Li Wenbin, 30, was arrested by police after forcing entry with his bike into restricted roads near North Gaobeidian Road in east Beijing on the morning of Aug 29. The police had barricaded the road for the first parade rehearsal. Li also hit a policeman in the face when he was stopped. His family paid 2,000 yuan in medical fees to the injured officer.
