Foreigners get security

Foreign employees in Shanghai can be included in the local social security system, authorities announced recently. Expatriate employees of locally registered companies - of foreign nationality, Chinese with overseas permanent residency, and Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao residents - can pay endowment, medical and employment injury insurance to Shanghai's social security system.

Men who turn 60 and women who turn 55 will be able to receive monthly pensions through the system.
