The Internet has changed the way stars are made. Thanks to websites such as Youtube and Myspace, it seems anyone can become a star as long as he or she is armed with a laptop, music editing software and Internet access.
Adam Young is one of those who has gone from being a nobody to being a celebrity and is now touring Asia. This weekend, he will give his debut performance in Beijing at the live venue Yugong Yishan.
In early 2007, the 23-year-old Minnesota native founded Owl City in his parents' basement, following several sleepless nights. The one-man band started as an electronic pop project for fun, but went on to register 10 million plays on Myspace. His catchy Fireflies rose to No 1 position on the Billboard single charts.
