Qingdao named top resort

The coastal city of Qingdao in East China's Shandong province has been named as one of the nation's Top 10 Resort Cities of 2009.

The other winners on the list, compiled by the Beijing-based Xiaokang Magazine, include Guiyang, Jilin, Heyuan, Chengde, Anshun, Zhaoqing and Jiaxing. The recreation industry has become one of China's fastest-developing sectors, with its total tourism revenues reaching 1.1 trillion yuan ($170 billion) in 2008.
