Whistleblower gets award

A consumer rights campaigner has claimed a 100-yuan award from the city's commercial administration for reporting an illegal promotion by beverage giant Coca-Cola, the Mirror Evening News reported yesterday. Zhao Jianlei bought a bottle of Fanta, produced by Coca-Cola, in April last year. He noticed that the bottle's jackpot promotion campaign held irregular details. He reported the case to Beijing's industry of commerce and sued Coca-Cola for 10,000 yuan. Zhao said consumers are often too intimidated by large companies to enter into time-consuming lawsuits.
