New mom kills baby and herself

SHENZHEN: A mother suffering from post-partum depression killed her 6-month-old baby girl and herself on Tuesday morning in the Pingshan new district of this southern city.

In the wake of the murder-suicide, medical experts are reminding people to give extra care and support to new mothers to help them through what is often an emotionally unstable period.

The 30-year-old woman surnamed Yang was found lying in blood between two residential buildings at 8:30 am on Tuesday. Just 1 m away lay a little baby in white. Both of them were dead when the ambulance arrived.
