Forty years ago Wu Peihua left Shanghai with about 100 other youths to work in a Guizhou province village and never returned because she married a farmer.
Though the couple left the village and traveled as migrant workers they eventually returned to Guizhou, settled as farmers and started a family.
Today, Wu is 59, works as a cleaning lady and has heart disease. Her husband is seriously ill and in hospital.
