CHENGDU: Construction of a research center under the control of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding will likely start early next year.

The 60 million yuan ($8.8 million) center will help in the relocation of captive pandas to the wild and will be built in the mountainous Yutang town area under Chengdu's administration.
