Renewable energies urged

The country should speed up its development of renewable energies and nuclear energy, constructing them as the green backbone of China's energy sources, Du Xiangwan, the vice-president of Chinese Academy of Engineering said yesterday in Beijing.

"Coordinated development following the technical roadmap of thermal reactor (to) fast reactor (to) fusion reactor, nuclear energy can be developed in a sustainable fashion," he said at a high-level forum of Energy Saving and Global Climate Change launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology yesterday.
