Gang boss blames others

Gang boss Yang Tianqing, who was sentenced to death after being convicted in October of leading a mafia-style gang that killed four, stood trial again yesterday, appealing to Chongqing people's high court that someone else, and not him, was directing the gang.

During the city's ongoing trials of a dozen alleged mafia-style gangs, five have been convicted in six trials, with one still pending. Six people were sentenced death with or without two-year reprieves.
