Families compensated

A project manager of a property company surnamed Nie was ordered to pay 50,000 yuan compensation to villagers in Zhoukoudian town, Fangshan district on Tuesday, for dismantling their houses without permission, the Beijing Youth Daily reported yesterday. The property company signed a contract to build new buildings on the land of the village in 2007. But three families in the village refused to demolish their old houses for new buildings. In December 2007, Nie used an excavator to demolish the houses of those three families without their permission.
