Mine deaths rise to 8

The death toll of a coal mine gas explosion in Northwest China yesterday has risen to eight after two missing miners were found dead.

Another 11 people were being treated in the hospital after their rescue from the pit in Shizuishan, the Ningxia Hui autonomous region, but their conditions were unknown, said Huang Minkang, deputy director of Ningxia Coal Mine Safety Bureau.
