Transparency needed in water price adjustment

Recent media reports suggest Beijing will soon hold a public hearing on water price adjustments. But as news of a price hike will not come as a surprise to most, given that Beijing is short of water resources and water treatment costs are on the rise, the most popular question on the lips of many remains as to how much the increase will actually be.

I don't want to speculate on why the price will be raised or by how much because local authorities must have their reasons, but I do hope the policy deliberation process is made more transparent to the public so there is no doubt cast on the decision.
