42 deaths blamed on Ida

El Salvador reported that 42 people have died throughout the country following three days of heavy rains. The deaths happened in at least five of the 14 provinces of the mountainous Central American country. It has been raining in El Salvador since Thursday, the day Hurricane Ida passed through Nicaragua.

Yesterday, a hurricane watch has been issued for coastal Louisiana and Mississippi as as the storm moved into the Gulf of Mexico toward the US.
