No nerves this time for Taiwan singer
Backstage at the Beijing Exhibition Theater, Cheer Chen was a bundle of nerves as she checked out the full house. But once she sat down with her guitar, her composure and clear voice had the 5,000-strong crowd mesmerized.
That was the scene from her Beijing concert last winter. Since then, the indie Taiwan singer-songwriter, darling of a small group of fans who loved her innocent voice and touching lyrics, has become a hot favorite with youth.
The singer is back with her fifth album The Sun and concert with the same title, at the Capital Indoor Stadium, which can seat nearly 20,000 people. The concert will have both her signature simple songs, accompanied by just the guitar, as well as wild, hard rock with her band. An estimated 80 percent of the tickets have already been sold. However, Chen says she is not too concerned with the numbers.
