Woman wins compensation

A gymnasium was ordered to compensate 20,000 yuan to a customer who broke a bone when she stumbled on a floor mat in September last year, the Chaoyang district court said. The customer surnamed Yan played badminton at the gymnasium on Sept 16, 2008, but fell into a small gap near the mat and broke a bone in her foot.

She asked for almost 100,000 yuan in compensation and 25,000 yuan in psychological compensation. The court ruled the gymnasium failed to clear hazards, but also said Yan should realize the risk of injury in exercise.
