Compensation bill delayed

The widely anticipated draft amendment to the decades-old State Compensation Law, which aims to better compensate victims whose rights and interests are infringed upon by administrative agencies or officials, was postponed from being voted on when a bimonthly legislative session ended on Saturday.

The amendment, scheduled for voting on Saturday, needs further review as some National People's Congress Standing Committee members raised different opinions on compensation procedures, said He Shaoren, deputy director of the information bureau under the committee's general office.
