More than 1,000 environmental experts and scholars are expected in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province, for the 13th World Lake Conference from November 1 to 5.
The international symposium "will help China learn more about environmental expertise in lake conservation from abroad and better deal with water pollution control", said Wu Xiaoqing, vice-minister of environmental protection.
It will also help promote China's concept of "recuperating lakes for sustainable development" and publicize the nation's conservation policies in the wider world, Wu added.
