10 die in closed mine

Ten miners suffocated after they entered a closed mine in Zuoyun county, Datong city of Shanxi province, the State Administration of Work Safety said yesterday. Two others survived. The administration said the mine was shut down a year ago, without giving other details. The miners were suspected of illegally mining, a practice often urged by closed mine owners for illegal profits.
