Military colleges targeted in scams

By Wang Wei and Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2009-10-29 08:22

Admission to military college accounts for almost 90 percent of university entrance fraud cases before Beijing courts, prosecutors say.

Local courts have dealt with 165 college entrance scams in the past four years, and in 145 cases, military universities were the desired destination, the people's procuratorates of the Haidian and Chaoyang districts told Beijing Youth Daily.

Military universities are a popular choice among high school graduates and their parents because of subsidies offered on tuition and the offer of a well-paid job.
