Moutai fakers arrested

Haidian police closed a fake Moutai liquor workshop on Monday, arresting a couple responsible for mixing low quality alcohol with Moutai and reselling it to remote mining areas, the Beijing Times reported yesterday. The police discovered empty wine bottles and packaging in a courtyard when on patrol, Monday morning. They caught the couple in the process of blending the alcohols. The couple confessed to have been doing this since September. As many as 130 boxes of fake Moutai were found in their home, worth 200,000 yuan ($29,300) at retail value.
