Runoff set for president
A November 29 runoff will pit a blunt-talking former guerrilla representing the ruling leftist coalition against a privatizing former president with little patience for Latin America's leftist alliances. Jose "Pepe" Mujica, the candidate of the governing Broad Front coalition, got 47.5 percent of the votes on Sunday, short of the more than 50 percent needed to win the election outright. Ex-president Luis Alberto LaCalle got 28.5 percent to earn the second spot in the runoff.
