Expat's questions

China Daily | Updated: 2009-10-26 07:36

I'm a Singaporean and my wife is a Chinese national. We're working in Beijing. My wife gave birth to our son in March. We've been applying for Singapore citizenship for him through the embassy. Do we need to register for our son with local police? After we get the passport for him, what kind of documents from police do we need if we want to bring him out of China?

You must have a valid work visa in Beijing.

If your baby gets the passport within 30 days after his birth, please directly go to your local police station to apply for the registration certificate to stay in Beijing for your baby; If your baby can't get his passport within 30 days after his birth, you may first go to the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Exit-entry Administration to register for your baby, then go to the local police for the registration certificate.
