Newly opened Kamat's Indian Restaurant ( 卡玛特印度餐厅) at Dongzhimenwai is yet another place to sample tasty, authentic Indian and halal foods.
Owner Sudhakar Kamat comes from a family of restaurateurs back in India. Earlier, he operated an Indian restaurant in Zhongguancun, called Kamat Mumbai Palace, which had to be closed down.
The eatery currently offers a lunch buffet with 10 dishes, presented in clean, shining copper vessels. It includes two types of rice - one white and one fried - two soups and six salads besides the 10 vegetable and meat dishes. The lunch buffet costs 48 yuan per person and includes one free coke, sprite or local beer.
