Courage or punishment

Authorities in Taiwan said yesterday they would investigate a private training center after receiving videos showing children were made to swallow fire and step on glass to build up courage.

Parents also provided testimony of the training at the Mai-teh International Intelligence Research Institute in the city of Tainan. City officials said they would investigate the center.
