The contributions of the Chinese Communist Party and Kuomintang armies in defending the country against Japanese invasion during World War II will be commemorated at a symbolic event on Nov 9.
On that day, earth taken from five famous battlefields during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45) - where Chinese armies, including CCP-led Eighth Route Army and Kuomintang troops, fought decisive battles against the Japanese - would be mixed with soil from Taiwan and the Badaling section of the Great Wall. The blend will be kept at the Great Wall Museum in Beijing.
The event will pay tribute to those from both sides of the Straits who shed their blood for safeguarding the motherland.
