Energy-saving lights

The Fengtai government has distributed and installed more than 2 million energy-saving lights to citizens in the district, which will save 75 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year and more than 50 million yuan ($7.3 million) for residents, the Beijing Youth Daily reported yesterday.

The Fengtai development and reform commission has pursued the green illumination project since June. So far, 400, 000 residents in Fengtai district have been offered a 6.9-yuan subsidy on the purchase of each energy-saving light.
