By Zhao Yanrong and Zhang Yan | China Daily | Updated: 2009-10-21 08:30

A woman and her cousin were restrained, threatened and robbed by five men during a terrifying eight-hour hostage ordeal in Daxing district.

The woman, surnamed Jin, was allegedly targeted by the gang because one of men had delivered bottled water to her apartment two weeks before the robbery, and he believed she was wealthy.

Police have detained the five men over the Aug 12 robbery, but the gang is yet to be charged. It's alleged the group is responsible for 3 similar robberies in Beijing.
