Insurance firm to pay hotel after guest trips

A court in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, ordered an insurance firm to pay 50,000 yuan as compensation to a hotel, which had to foot a massive hospital bill for a guest who fell down the hotel's stairs.

The hotel, which had purchased the public liability insurance, dragged the insurance firm to court after the company refused to pay up, saying the guest should bear the responsibility of his injuries if he did not know how to climb down stairs.
