330,000 to be resettled

A project to resettle 330,000 people living in central China's Hubei and Henan provinces to make way for the south-north water diversion project has started.

They will be relocated from homes near the Danjiangkou reservoir, where a sluice will be built to divert water from the Yangtze River to China's thirsty northern regions, including Beijing, Tianjin, Henan and Hebei. Resettlement in Henan is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
