A woman's touch

The theme of Liu Manhua's oil painting series, Passion of Floating Life, is women. Ignoring their facial features, Liu lays stress on their bodies, exuding vitality, strength, beauty and passion. The color scheme is warm, with patches of ochre and amber dominating the tableau. The background buildings and landscapes are conveyed in various geometric shapes, giving the works an air of leisure and freedom. Born in 1963 in Beijing, Liu blends his comprehension of philosophy into his fresh and original art.
