Suspected rapist caught

Shunyi police detained a man suspected of attempted rape at a highway checkpoint on Monday. The 44-year-old man, surnamed Ru, from Beipiao, Liaoning province, was wanted by police because he allegedly broke into an apartment and attempted to rape a woman on June 26, the Beijing Times reported yesterday. On Oct 1, local traffic police captured Ru when he was trying to pass through a police highway checkpoint. Police said Ru was very nervous when questioned at the checkpoint and further inquiries discovered he was on the run.
