Father held in beating death of son

SHANGHAI: A 38-year-old father from Anhui province has been detained after allegedly beating his 4-year-old son to death over the weekend, police said yesterday.

Zhang Shaobin is being investigated for intentional injury and is to undergo a forensic psychiatry test.

"But so far, we have not seen any sign of him being mentally unstable," Zeng Ni with the Baoshan district department of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau told China Daily.
