Accident compensation questioned
A man who lost his legs after being hit by a subway train five years ago and received 800,000 yuan in compensation will have to face the subway company again, as Beijing Supreme People's Procuratorate is protesting against the ruling and asking the Xicheng district court to hear the case again, the Beijing News reported yesterday.
On Sept 29, 2004, Wu Zhuolin fell off a platform on Beijing's subway Line 1 and a train crushed his legs. Wu received 800,000 yuan in compensation last June, including 300,000 yuan for psychological compensation. However, Beijing Subway Company claims it was not reasonable to ask the company to pay the additional 300,000 yuan because the reason he fell was due to his being in a rush.
