Car sales fall over holidays

IN BRIEF (Page 13)

Beijing car sales fell dramatically during the eight-day national holiday as more people spent the time traveling rather than buying motor vehicles.

According to figures from Yayuncun Car Market, the capital's biggest automobile dealer, only 408 cars were bought during the holidays (about 50 per day), a sharp fall from the 2,000-cars-per-day record set in August. The figures also reflected a 100 percent drop from October 2008, when nearly 700 cars were purchased during the same one-week period.
