An exhibition displaying the culture and history of the 56 Chinese minority groups is ongoing at the Capital Museum, one of the four major exhibitions of the museum to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
Entitled Colorful Chinese Minority Groups, it gathers more than 100 items, from handmade costumes and accessories, to household appliances. Highlights are the Miao ethnic group's silver ornaments, fancy handmade embroidery skirts worn by women of the Yao minority group and a rice-grinding machine from the Dai ethnic group.
The exhibition is divided into three parts, including ethnic groups in early times, family handicrafts and living styles, and creative technologies.
