Korean family comedy Scandal Makers by newcomer Kang Hyoung-chul was a huge crowd-pleaser when it opened at home last year, selling more than 8 million tickets and enjoying a months-long ride at the box office.
The small-budget comedy has many appealing commercial elements. Cha Tae-hyun (My Sassy Girlfriend) plays Hyun Su, a former TV actor-turned popular radio DJ, whose enviable bachelor life is challenged when he learns he may be a grandfather, thanks to a young girl (Park Bo-young) who has a baby (Wang Seok-hyun) and claims to be his daughter.
The scandal spreads and Hyun Su invites the girl into his home and life, giving shelter in exchange for her silence. Bonds develop between the three, though conflict is inevitable.
