WASHINGTON: The United States will try to secure a return to the World Cup finals with a victory on Saturday at Honduras, where even political turmoil takes a back seat to the quest for a first World Cup trip since 1982.
Mexico will host El Salvador and Costa Rica will entertain already-ousted Trinidad and Tobago in other matches of the penultimate round of North American regional qualifying.
But the pivotal match will be at San Pedro Sula, where Honduras are 8-0 in World Cup qualifying but face a US squad which has won five in a row over Honduras, though none of the matches were in the Central American nation.
