Ketsana toll mounts to 300

China Daily | Updated: 2009-10-01 07:32

DANANG, Vietnam: Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos battled rising floodwaters yesterday from a typhoon that has cut a destructive path through South East Asia even as Thailand braced for bad weather.

Typhoon Ketsana has so far killed 300 people in the region, with a majority of the deaths - 246 - in the Philippines alone where it submerged the capital Manila and its suburbs on the weekend. Philippine is in for more bad weather today as a new storm forming in the Pacific Ocean is likely to enter its waters and make landfall on the island of Luzon, forecasters said.
