Events for 60th birthday

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the mid-Autumn Festival, the Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum in Chengdu, Sichuan, which is hailed as the sacred land of Chinese literature, will host a series of activities during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 8. They include the calligraphy exhibition of Chen Shaomo (1914-2006), a master calligrapher and former vice-chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Association of Calligraphers who lived in Chengdu in the 1980s. It includes the museum's 37th exhibition of Sichuan-style bonsai and two evening concerts featuring performances with ancient musical instruments and ancient dances.
