Gentle Blade a good example

The image of a pretty traffic policewoman in Chengdu, Sichuan province, has become popular after a footage of her was uploaded online. In that footage, when conducting law enforcement, she smiled to a driver who broke the traffic rule, and saluted to him 13 times in half an hour until he accepted the penalty. Netizens gave her a nick name "Gentle Blade".

"Gentle Blade" set a brilliant example in law enforcement. She maintained politeness and dignity when enforcing the law, and strictly punished the violator breaking traffic rules. In such a civilized but decisive way, she let the driver willingly accept the punishment.

Along with the growth of car ownership, transgressions on the roads are increasing, and the working pressure on traffic police is consequently rising. Maybe because of the pressure, traffic police officers usually deal with drivers in a crude and even imperious way. Though their intention is to maintain the authority of the traffic rules and keep traffic in order, the rough methods of law enforcement often caused confrontations between drivers and law enforcers, and damaged the image of traffic police. Had the police officers behaved in a more civilized way, the confrontations could have been avoided. Of course, some drivers behaved poorly, too.

Since we have seen too much rough behavior of police officers, the civilized law enforcement manner of "Gentle Blade" has been widely applauded in cyber space. It also reflects the call from people for civilized law enforcement. All law enforcement officers, not just traffic police, should listen to the call and learn from the model of "Gentle Blade".

Impression of China

I am on an assignment in China, having come from India, and have been here for more than three months. I have been able to get China Daily and find very informative and excellent articles with very little advertisement.

I am also impressed with the economic development that has taken place here and the efforts the central government is taking towards low-carbon green technology, and many other improvements for better living standards. I very much appreciate the dedication, discipline, and helpful attitude of the Chinese, particularly since I feel alone as a foreigner in this city. I am yet to come across an arrogant person.

China today is in no way inferior to any developed country. In fact it has many plus points due to its rich cultural heritage. I hope the living standards of the majority of the population will significantly improve soon in smaller cities as well.

I have just one suggestion to the people, that is, not to waste food in hotels and restaurants, as it can help poor families.
