China's Liu Jiayu performs during the women's snowboard halfpipe World Cup on Wednesday in Cardrona, New Zealand. The 17-year-old Liu, the reigning world champion and World Cup overall champion last season, won the opener of the new season with 44.1 points, ahead of the American duo of Kelly Clark and Gretchen Bleiler. American Shaun White won the men's event.
