Security forces beefed up for Asian Games

GUANGZHOU: Armed police, guards and volunteers will form part of a new security force charged with protecting public safety during the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.

Police involved in the security maintenance force began training in May, said Cai Guilan, deputy director of the organizing committee's Games security department.

At the launch of the security maintenance force yesterday, Cai said frontier police had also begun training drills on the ocean.
