Official sentenced

A senior official in Liaoyang city in Northeast China's Liaoning province has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for taking bribes and illegal possession of a vast quantity of property.

Jia Chengwei, former vice-secretary general of the city's Communist Party of China (CPC) committee, had accepted 120,000 yuan ($17,566), $50,000 and five plasma and LCD TV sets as bribes, said the Intermediate People's Court in Liaoyang Wednesday.
