BAO
BAO is a Chinese folk music band group made up of six promising young artists: Qian Jun and Jin Kai, both flutists; Yao Xinfeng and Zhao Lei, who play the Chinese string instrument erhu; and Tang Xiaofeng who plays the pipa. Their performance features more contemporary aesthetics and combines traditional music with modern pop music.

Gianni Schicchi
Gianni Schicchi is a one-act opera created by Italian Giacomo Puccini based on a tale from Dante's Divine Comedy. It tells about relatives going to a dying millionaire in the hopes of getting something from his will. But he decides to give everything to the church and then dies. The desperate relatives find an actor, pretending to be the dying man, so that he can make a different will. Starring Chi Liming, Zhang Feng and Xiong Yufei.

Cats
Andrew Webber's classic musical is back in town. This time the show is produced by Webber's Really Useful Group, ensuring the performance quality. The gateway and lobby of the Majestic Theater will be adjusted to allow for the large amount of stage props. Those who missed the first round show in 2003 have a second chance to catch it next month.

Neeme Jarvi and The Hague Philharmonic

Ye Qiang and Qiu Guangping
The two oil painters are featured at the Shanghai Art Museum for the same time. Ye is a post-modenist who makes seemingly ridiculous combination of Chinese art and Greek Myth, and creates unexpected harmony in his paintings. Qiu's paintings are all about horses on the battle field.

Shigeo Anzai
Japanese photo artist Shigeo Anzai was once an oil painter. His interest turned to photography at the age of 30. Anzai recorded many incidents in the world art history over the past 40 years. His exhibition presents a visual edition of modern art history in more than 70 images.

Classical mall music
Young violinist Wang Zhiyong gives a recital at the second floor lobby of Shanghai Times Square next Friday. Acclaimed as a "a rare new star in Asia" by Gramophone magazine, her historical violin made by Sanctus Seraphin in 1747, Wang will play a selection of work by Mozart, Stravinsky, Faure and other classical composers.
